Target: Hardcore Collectors on April 25, 2011 by scrooge from Philadelphia, PA

  • Pros: Authoritative, informative
  • Cons: Dry, advertising intense

Coinage is an heavily advertising injected magazine for the advanced collector with deep pockets. Articles are very focused and dry from the leading authorities in the coin world. Each issue has a section focused on kids with some information, puzzles and games that are really not that interesting. You REALLY should like coin collecting to subscribe.

Coinage Magazine rocks? Maybe on March 02, 2011 by bobo from Bulgaria

  • Pros: Lots of interesting coins
  • Cons: Maybe too many coins?

I found the content of Coinage magazine to be very derogatory and more then a little offensive! I mean how could you be so materialistic? There is more to life then just money! Shame on you for small minded coin peddling!

coin age...for collector and investor alike. on February 20, 2006 by Carl from St. Louis MO

Coinage magazine is wonderful way for new numismatists to gain information about our hobby. It is not so scholarly that it won't appeal to new hobbyists but yet scholarly enough to hold old timer's interest. Investors will also be satisfied by Dave Ganz's annual crystal ball column, and monthly trends column. Dick Doty, our curator at the Smithsonian Institution offers well written scholarly articles in a style that will make newcomers to the hobby come back for more! He is a genuine PHD that doesn't write like one. There is plenty of news each month on new issues from the mint, upcoming national events, famous collections, history, humor, and shopping. Have fun, read, enjoy, and welcome newcomers to the hobby!
